I just installed pfsense 4g on a CF card 4gig. At boot i saw many errors related to UDMA. I searched on google and the solution is to  add this –->  hw.ata.ata_dma=0 on /boot/loader.conf.local but it says read only file system ..what can i do ??

I know the i must remount the file system RW but i dont know how ?

On booting up, instead of allowing the default load, press any key to exit to command prompt.

          Example here:

Ignore the "set kern.cam.boot_delay=10000" line, that was an example for USB booting.
          Instead type the following:
          set hw.ata.ata_dma=0
          followed by:
          boot

This will allow you to boot the pfSense system.
Then access the webGUI and edit /boot/loader.conf (through Diagnostics -> Edit File so that there is no need to muck around with read/ write permissions).

By default for embedded, DMA should be disabled.  Not sure why it's not disabled on your system but you can change it in the file editor.

Or simply disable UDMA in the bios.
