I'm putting a wireless bridge between my house and a friend's house.  We want to share files between our LANs but not over a VPN through the internet.  Each house will have it's own internet connection, it's own 3+ port pfSense box, and a(n) Ubiquiti Nanobridge M5.  We would also like to use each other's internet as a failover for our own but normally use only our own respective connection.  Is it possible?  CARP? VLANs?

This is mostly a routing way of doing.
You can do through gateway failover or through ospf routing protocol.

So each of you should see the others firewall as a provider/gateway
