IP-Blocklist installed but not available in GUI
-
i am using PFSense 1.2.3, it is working fine with Squid, SquidGuard and LightSquid, (though till now cannot block https pages).
I was thinking to use IP-Blocking and DNSBlacklist, to get this done I first installed DNSBlacklist but after check it out I decided to work only with IP-Blocklist. So I did uninstall DNSBlacklist, and then installing IP-Blocklist … it takes some minutes but after that everything seems to be ok, but I could not see the IP-Blocklist on the main menu to start configuring.I checked this forum and following some recommendations I could find out that the package is running; I ran /usr/local/etc/rc.d/IP-Blocklist.sh and the result is "running", however on the system logs the mesages I see "ipblocklist was found not running"
i tried to install PFsense 1.2.3 on another machine, the same result (but at this time I don't install DNSBlacklist)
Please guys, I need your help

Just use PAC/WPAD to auto detect proxy on client's browsers and you will be able to block https urls
This tutorial will be really usefull.
A hit is to configure dns+dhcp part.
http://blog.ninjatek.co.za/2010/11/proxy-autodetection-using-pac-file-and.htmlWhile you setup automatic proxy detect and configuration, you will have no problems with notebooks that have access to internet inside and outside your company.

Thanks very much for the suggestion to block Facebook, I will try it. But, what about the fact I am unable to get IP-BLocklist showed up on GUI? …it is frustrating, I just reinstall the PFSense FW but nothing, it does not show up on GUI.., but is running...

Did you tried to uninstall and then reinstall ip-blocking package.
Why don't you try pfsense 2.0.1? There are many improvents since 1.2.3

What browser are you using?

To answer previous questions:
- I have already uninstall / install the package …, does not show up on GUI
- I am using google chrome and IE 8
I have to solve this problem with pfsense 1.2.3, I have 6 firewalls with the same version and all of them need to have IP Blocking installed.

Do you have the resources to build a virtual pfsense 1.2.3 box and install the package. I know the package works on a fresh build so you can then compare the two and see what is happening.

Ok, I will try again
I will come back with the results as soon as I can
Thanks

I just install version PFsense 1.2.3 in a VM on Vitrualbox, clean installation…. Then, I try to install IP-Blocklist from the list of packages and everything was fine..!
In all my PFsense servers I have Squid and Squidguard installed..., maybe they are the problem to install IP-Blocklist?..., do I have to uninstall Squid / SquidGuard on each of them to get IP-Blocking installed?.
how can I uninstall manually IP-Blocklist to start over again without clean installation...?
Thanks very much for your help

My question would be if you still have the VM to test with if ipblocklist stops working when you install squid and squidguard. If so then you may be able to reverse that.
I think you have two options: 1. Remove Squid or 2. Upgrade to pfblocker.
Sorry for the late response.
