Notification of WAN IP Change
-
I currently have Dynamic DNS setup on my pfsense 2.0 router and working. Is there a way to receive a notification and/or run a script when my WAN IP address changes? I can have one of my Linux boxes behind the firewall do it, but would prefer to consolidate this in the router.

The pfSense Dynamic DNS facility already runs a script to update Dynamic DNS registration if the pfSense WAN interface IP address changes AND its a public IP address. What do you want your script to do?

He wants to have a notification like from growl or sent by e-mail.

I have a somewhat complicated setup to allow the use of pfsense as my primary router while fooling the FiOS router into thinking that it is on the internet so that I maintain access to my remote DVR, etc.:

This setup requires updating of the FiOS router IP address, as given by my DHCP server. At a minimum, I would like to receive a notification so that I can modify the IP address given to the FiOS router - I won't know that the IP has changed because Dynamic DNS handles it automatically. Better, if possible, I could write a script to automatically modify the settings (although I may still need to power cycle the FiOS router to force it to take the new IP address).

For those that are interested, I started using DNS-O-Matic as an intermediary to my dynamic DNS host, which provides email notification on every successful IP address update:
