Install on Dell R310 failing
-
Hi,
I tried to install pfsense 2.0.1 onto a dell poweredge R310 with RAID card connected to 2 SAS 15K drives with RAID 1. The problem is I can't install pfsense to it. I'm using AMD64 CD. Tried this same cd onto another machine without any problem.
I get a segmentation fault and other errors.
I found a post that says they installed on R310 but using SATA and software RAID.
Any advise will be highly appreciated.

Possibly your hardware raid is not supported. What card is it?

Hi,
I've just installed Pf Sense 2.0.1 on a Dell R310, I only had problems during the installation. The problem was the installation process hanging at 38% and disabling the NIC interfaces temporarily in BIOS resolved my problem.
I think we use an LSI raid controller with Dell's virtual logical array on top of it.Ege

Try to disable nics from BIOS before running setup.

I'm having a similar issue with installation of pfSense 2.0.1 amd x64 on a Dell R810. FBSD 9.0 installs without issue, but pfSense (FBSD 8.0 base) cannot find my SAS HDD. Appears to be a driver issue. Lack of a driver on the CD I suspose. Looked for a drive at Dell with no success. Anyone know of ??? plans to port 2.0.1 to FBSD 9.0? Where to find a driver for 8.0?

:) Steve,
Props dude!
Downloaded pfSense-LiveCD-2.1-DEVELOPMENT-amd64-20120227-2025.iso and it loaded like a champ. -
All credit goes to the developers. :)
