PfJailCtl and jail_template on 2.0RC1
-
Hi,
I want to help out testing and updating old packages for 2.0RC1. I started this topic so we can re-evaluate the PfJailCtl and jail_template packages. I have worked a bit with them over the past few days and have fixed some issues. I saw some spreadsheet in another section on the status. So here are my findings.
Installation
The packages perform installation without any trouble. Syncing also works like a charm. None of the webgui features seem broken. My system is 32-bit.Bugs
Some features have become old/incompatible:-
The sysinstall build that comes with the package (for populating jails) is from FreeBSD 7 and is missing libs. I was unable to get it working.
FIXED! Copied new sysinstall from FreeBSD 8.1. -
Auto-start feature still doesn't work (neither for 1.2.3).
FIXED! I updated jailctl.inc, now seems to work -
The jail_template that comes with the package was also FreeBSD 7.
FIXED! I build a new template image from FreeBSD 8.1 core
If anyone is interested I can share my results here. However my aim is to update the package itself.
How do I proceed? I am aware of the Developing Packages article and the redmine ticket system. But since this involves 2.0RC1. I would like to know if I should propose a new package pfJailtctl2 or whether this should go into the old one.
Kind regard,
im

I know i would appreciate if they include your fixes in the next version. I also ran into roadblocks with it on 2.0rc1.
I'm sure i'm not alone.

You could start by posting the diff here. I would love to have the fix for auto-starting the jails even if it is a manual patch. I briefly looked into this myself but could not get it working. I've found the jails to be a very valuable feature to me in my home network. This feature would be even better if I didn't have to manually restart the jails after rebooting the box.
