      Guys,

What equipment would i need to order from ebay to make my Watchguard X700 Pfsense installation wireless? I know you can buy a PCI riser ribbon and then attach a pci wireless card and have the attenti hanging out the back. But i wondered if there was an easier way?

      Thank you in advance. ;D

      Kind Regards,
      Craig

The X700 has a mini-pci slot. As standard it has the Safenet VPN card in it but that isn't supported by pfSense so you might as well remove it. You'll need to attach an antenna to the case with the appropriate connector.

One of the early Atheros 802.11b/g cards will be most likely to work as an access point. I forget which one I have right now, AR5007 perhaps?
It occasionally through out missed beacon errors that don't cause a problem, it's been totally reliable.

oh excellent thank you for your reply. Out of interest how comes Pfsense doesnt support the VPN accerator card with the x700? I know in 2.0.1 pfsense can see it and detect it. Are there not special drivers we can install via ssh shell cmd?

          Kind Regards,
          Craig

            I don't know, it's weird.
Yes the card is seen by pfSense and appears to be working. If you run cryptotest it works well. However if you setup a VPN and try to use any of the encryptions supported by the SafeXcel 1141 you will find it doesn't work.  :-\
