I noticed that the md5's I obtain after downloading some pfSense files do not match the strings listed. A specific example is:

      pfSense-2.0.1-RELEASE-i386.iso yields an MD5 string of 62dc3ed11a5161b9e4f19dec94da589c

The MD5 string listed on the mirror site is 3905f1ff226c767084c12cafa4eb03ca

I have checked more than three mirror sites with the same result. I would like to know if the files are corrupted or the MD5 file is just not correct.

You have decompressed the image. The md5 is generated from the original compressed version present on the server.
