Squidguard: Yet another not working on reboot…but FIXED!
-
Hello all.
This took me a bit to figure out, find, and fix. And I'm no Linux/Unix person, by far.
Using PFSense 1.2.3 Release, Squid, and SquidGuard. All was working fine until I reboot, and then I have to manually stop and start SquidGuard to get it's filtering working again.
As I can't do this, I had to find a fix or throw out the work I got to that point.
Finally found a thread here, and specifically this post:
http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,20690.msg136528.html#msg136528Which fixed it. All filters work on reboot, which is what I needed badly. For a Command Shell ignoramus, I must have done ok! Even did the move/copy files about to ensure I had a backup. Was fun to figure that one out.
Anyway, it took me a bit to find it/understand it/implement, so I wanted to help anyone who might be having the same issues, hopefully save them a little bit of time?
My first foray into PFSense… except for the speed bumps, which have been overcome, this is a fantastic looking product! My thanks to you developers!

I've had the same issue forever. On reboots I had to remember to stop and restart the services. I've just been too lazy to do a search and see if it was a common problem. Now I have no excuses :)
