Restore Failed

I have pfsense 2.0 running on a nokia IP330 and its fine. I backed up the config to an xml file.
I also have a astaro box which is much smaller than the nokia and also has 3 lan's. I booted from CD and installed pfsense 2.0 the same as on the nokia. all installed fine.
I then restored the config from the nokia box and it hangs following the restart at the screen where it says :
re0: link state changed to DOWN
re1: link state changed to DOWN
re2: link state changed to DOWN
re1: link state changed to UPand it goes nowhere further, it hasnt locked up because if I alt-ctrl-del it shuts down processes and reboots.
Any ideas appreciated.

It's probably booting fine, just outputting to serial console instead of VGA.
-
it doesnt respond to ping on any of the lan's so it looks like it hasnt finished booting. I dont hear the little tune either it plays after a successfull boot.
Is it a bug in the restore program or the xml backup file created do you think ?
thanks

Does it boot fine before the config restore?
Does it have exactly the same set of interfaces?
I would expect it to dump you at the interface setup menu after detecting interfaces that don't match the config file.Steve

yes boots fine when installing from live cd. has 3 lans same as the nokia.
-
Yes but are they the same NIC type, same driver?
Steve
-
no idea.
Are the drivers specified in the restore file ?
-
Yes.
It specifies which interface is assigned to which physical NIC. LAN assigned to re1, for example.
So if re1 doesn't exist it drops to the interface setup menu.Steve

ahh right yes, it does this and i choose a new MAC for each.
Makes no difference still doesnt work.
