Captive portal broken after restoring 1.2.3 config.
-
I got the latest snapshot last night and installed it, and restore my config from a 32bit 1.2.3 install.
Everything seems all right except for captive portal. It's literally broken for me.
I got 5 garbage captive portal services, one of them is taking port 8000 and I don't know how to get rid of them since it doesn't show up in the user editable captive portal part. This breaks captive portal since it can't bind to port 8000.
Where can I go to remove these by hand?

I believe there are major changes in the config between 1.2.3 and 2.1 and using a config from 1.2.3 is not recommended for security reasons!
-
Ok that makes sense, Guess I will have to do everything by hand.

You should be able to restore a -full- 1.2.3 config to 2.1, it's restoring partial/sections that do not work.

True

Not true. The config will be converted to the new format automatically, if it's restored in full. Partial config restores are only supported on the same version. In that case it just won't work, no security reasons.
OP: are you restoring the full config or just part of it?
-
just slightly off the subject, i did an upgrade from v2.0 and the same thing happened. however, upon doing it by hand, it still appeared not to work and the service status shows it as not running.
It is working though and everything appears fine bar the status reporting. -
ah I must be thinking of restoring a 2.1 config to 2.0. My bad. I seem to remeber getting a warning on the console but must of got it mixed up.

If going to backup/restore and selecting restore all counts as a full restore then yes.
I did see another options over in advanced setup, but I don't know what it does.Th only problem is that every time I restore it in my VM, it caused a kernel panic on the host machine. I don't know if it's because of virtio or what, so it could be the config never fully uploads.
I like 2.1, it has alot of things I need, captive portal zones, virtio support, auto update, actual 1:1 mapping for public to private addresses. An improvement over the workaround of using virtual ip proxy arp setup.
