This started yesterday for me. On Tuesday i upgraded from 2.0 RC to 2.0.1 Release. At first i was able to see everything fine I'm not really sure why they stopped showing up. I have done dns lookups from the web gui they return 69.64.6.21. I am able to use the web fine.
My logs say
Jul 7 00:08:14 php: /pkg_mgr.php: XMLRPC communication error: Operation timed out
Jul 7 00:08:01 php: /pkg_mgr_installed.php: XMLRPC communication error: Operation timed outI'm down not knowing at all what the problem is, and looking for advice before i do a fresh install.
If any more information is needed i will be happy to get it for you.
Thanks.

I guess it was to long.

The loopback address is normal in the DNS list displayed on the Dashboard. It comes from the checkbox on the System:General Setup page:
Do not use the DNS Forwarder as a DNS server for the firewall
By default localhost (127.0.0.1) will be used as the first DNS server where the DNS forwarder is enabled, so system can use the DNS forwarder to perform lookups. Checking this box omits localhost from the list of DNS servers. If you check this box, it will go from the list. The default is the box is NOT checked, and that works fine.
It is odd that you can fetch stuff from the command line, but the GUI has a problem. The access out from stuff running in pfSense should be just by the default gateway. You can see the current default gateway with (output from my test system):netstat -r Routing tables Internet: Destination Gateway Flags Refs Use Netif Expire default 192.168.1.1 UGS 0 3840 vr2 localhost link#7 UH 0 126 lo0 192.168.1.0 link#3 U 0 0 vr2 192.168.1.1 192.168.1.1 UGHS 0 195 vr2 192.168.1.222 link#3 UHS 0 0 lo0 192.168.2.0 link#2 U 0 0 vr1 192.168.2.1 192.168.2.1 UGHS 0 0 vr1 192.168.2.22 link#2 UHS 0 0 lo0 192.168.12.0 link#1 U 0 7402 vr0 test2 link#1 UHS 0 0 lo0 Internet6: ... IPv6 output comes here ...
As long as the default gateway can get to the internet properly then I find that the dashboard update check and the packages list come up.

This is what netstat returned. All looks good This is from my WAN so my default gateway is my ISP address which is correct. I stared out some of the address.

I dont know why this caused the issue but i have found to solution for now. Maybe something changed with the update its something i will have to look through to figure out.
Solution:
Disable IPv6
Disable IPv6 to IPv4 tunnelMaybe the address changed for the tunnel and it was trying to use IPv6 to access the server from my firewall. Maybe someone more knowledgeable knows why. Anyways its fixed.
Thanks for all the help
