I don't know. I split this off into its own threads so maybe you'll get more relevant input.

AFAIK, there was more to it than just FreeSWITCH, it also wanted Apache and a bunch of other things.

Mcrane has this guide up on his site.  Looks like he is working on an updated package for pfsense from what Ive read on there…   Id love to be able to attend the class he's advertising but can't swing it this time...

        http://wiki.fusionpbx.com/index.php?title=PfSense_Install

I haven't tried this yet.  I am playing with FusionPBX 3.0 though and haven't gotten it to work quite yet...

Well, as far as FreeSwitch itself goes:

          http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Installation_Guide#FreeBSD

which would be the better approach, because the pre-compiled thing used here:

          http://wiki.fusionpbx.com/index.php?title=PfSense_Install

doesn't support fax reception, and also it's not a very friendly way to go forward to rely on a specific compiled binary.

So from what one can glean from this, Apache isn't a requirement, at least not in pfSense 2.x++, however SQLite is required. Also, since FusionPBX is now at 3.x, following the directions exactly would just result in an outdated system anyway…

          Source either here:
          http://code.google.com/p/fusionpbx/source/checkout
          or here
          http://code.google.com/p/fusionpbx/downloads/list

There also seems to be a FreeBSD port, given this snippet of info:

          http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-ports-bugs/2012-May/234223.html

Here's an overview of a FreeBSD build/install, which also may contain useful info:

            Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I will attempt to experiment with this over the weekend and report back on how things go.

                @chpalmer:

                Thanks for all that rcfa!

Thank me, if you actually get it to work :D

Let me know, if you do. It's on my to-do list to play with this, but right now, I'm a bit under water with other things…
...but I'd love to have my answering machine/fax running on pfSense at some time, and be able to reroute my calls, etc.
Not a high-volume application, but maybe a high-sophistication one, because I'm not the typical telco user...

The maintainer name and email are in pkg_config.8.xml on Github https://github.com/bsdperimeter/pfsense-packages/blob/master/pkg_config.8.xml This appears to be mcrane on the forum, but there is no forum activity for about a year. Maybe you can email him at the gmail address in the file and see what the status is.

                        Shame about the maintainer :(

I got FreeSWITCH to successfully install. I'm still unsure about configuring it in my setup although I assume I need to configure FreeSWITCH to bind to my LAN interface (not the WAN)

                          Jeremy,

you made any progress on getting it running?

im in the same situation , need it running on the LAN interface , NOT the wan.

                          look forward to your reply.

                              Hi,

Was there any status update on this?

I'm also looking for a FreeSwitch package for 2.1….

                              Cheers,
                              Victor
