I am sorry if this has been asked before but I could not find this information after searching. I am getting a few firewalls from Netgate (m1n1wall 2D3) with 2GB CF Card. Would I use the 2G pfSense image or do I use a smaller one?

I guess my question is, do the images take up the size indicated or are they tailored for drives of the size indicated?

it depends your card solely, some cards isn't big enough and you can't use "right" size image, try with 2gb image and if it doesn't fit change to smaller one. And what is the difference, i let smarter ones answer

What Metu69salemi said is right. Most of the time, if you have a 2GB card you can use the 2GB image, but using a smaller size is safe as well.

Some manufacturers have been slowly shrinking the size of flash media without changing part numbers or giving any other indication that they have changed. So if you use the 2GB image and you find that it doesn't fit, you can use the 1GB image.
