Vpn bonding support ?
-
Hello everyone.
I'm using load balancer for my three wan and it works very well ..
except the fact that i need to have a better upload speed for my backup files … so ..i've read a lot regarding ZeroShell VPN Bonding and i'm testing it in a vm for now .. seems to work .. but i really don't like ZeroShell ..
Is there is any chance to make PfSense act like Zeroshell regarding VPN Bonding ?
Thanks.

Not at this time. We have some ideas for the future but the method they use for Zeroshell on Linux doesn't work effectively on FreeBSD.

jimp, could you elaborate on this please ?
Are you referring to ECMP issues or something else ?

No, IIRC they use some form of LACP over OpenVPN TAPs, which I was able to get partially working at one point but it was ugly because (a) if either link went down the whole thing failed, (b) it was really kludgy to make it work in the GUI and required lots of shuffling around and reapplying things in just the right order to make it even come up in the first place.
The idea we're tossing around is using mpd to bond channels using (essentially) mlppp between two nodes. Not sure when that might happen but definitely not for 2.1.

Probably using the Linux Bonding driver http://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/networking/bonding.txt
I've done such a setup in the past on Linux and it worked pretty well.
