Hi all. First of all much kudos to the team for developing this excellent software! PFSENSE is IMO the best choice for managing a network connection in or out of a domain environment. After the initial learning part (for which I'd have liked some spoon-feeding as I was lazy) I wonder why I had some problems in the past…........in any case I've gotten the software to do what I need and haven't been here in a very long while as a result. Love the updates and love the direction that things are going - keep up the good work!

On to my problem and hopefully someone can help me with this.

Have a DVR on the network which is accessible locally. Account setup with DYNDNS and rules setup in PFSENSE to allow access to the DVR. Can log in to the DVR but immediately after it pops up saying "IP or Port Is Invalid". I've tried changing a few settings in the created rules but nothing.

Logging in using RDP or other services such as TEAMVIEWER allow access to the DVR but that doesn't fix the problem. Don't want to have to leave a machine on just to get access to the DVR.

Has anyone seen this? Fixed this? Have suggestions on what can be done to resolve this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If another thread with a solution is available please point me there - I did a search for the error I was getting and nothing came up.

DVR is one of those that require IE (unfortunately) to get access. Certain options must be changed in order to allow downloading the ActiveX controls needed to view the content.

If it turns out that it's an IE or DVR setting then I'll post the results here,

Perhaps this is a DVR "security thing": deny access FROM anything NOT on its IP subnet.

Possibly - but it allows me to login and all that - then it says waiting for a bit then the error…..........will check that out in the DVR settings.

Have you tried forwarding the RTSP ports as well?

Most of the DVRs don't tell you that you need to forward that but actually require it.

If it requires IE then it almost certainly uses ActiveX. Your problem may well be because it embeds the LAN IP in the ActiveX control (or the web page that serves it up).

This is quite possibly the case. Then I'd probably have to take it up with the manufacturer and see if there may be some firmware update or something that would fix this issue. Screenies available now.

Unfortunately the screen shots don't help show what the problem may be. We really need the source of the page and probably other details too. I'd suggest you take this up on a DVR specific forum where, with details of the make and model of your DVR, people may be able to help.

Thanks. Will try taking it up either with the manufacturer or on another board as suggested. It's probably a limitation of the current firmware tho. Thanks again for the effort.
