Add lot of IP
-
Hi all :)
I need to add ~500 Virtual IP WAN.
Do you have a solution for add all IP in one shot ?Thanks ;D

I have never tried something like this but….
I would try manually editing the config.xml file and then restoring the modified file.
You could perhaps use a spreadsheet to generate the required VIP sections with sequential numbers. :-\Steve

I have used this method to manually add several DHCP reservations and port forwards and firewall rules, so it is possible. It is best to do so before any packages are installed on the system.

I also did similar (though in m0n0wall) to add a whole bunch of Captive Portal "users" with sequential weekly expiration dates. In Excel, the "Concatenate" function is your friend.

I phrased that badly. I meant I have never tried an edit of that scope.
Manually editing and restoring the config file is a useful technique.Steve

I guess you script something with the pfSense php shell.

If you have that many proxy ARP VIPs, just define them as a "subnet" and proxy arp will make that many of them in a chunk.
If they are CARP, you couldn't have that many anyhow (vhid limit of 255), if they are IP alias or a combination of CARP+IP Alias it may work but I'd epxect some sluggishness from having that many IPs bound at once if your hardware is slower.
If they are "Other" type VIPs, then you might consider upgrading to 2.1 where the subnet trick works for Other type VIPs like it does for proxy arp.
