      hi all,

i am trying to connect a PPTP VPN to a Draytek 2930 from a PC behind my pfsense box.

this same PPTP config works from several other computers in different networks that are not behind pfsense firewalls so i am sure the config works.

if i leave the windows VPN settings all at their default (except for not using the remote gateway :) ), i get an error 800.  If i change the VPN type manually to PPTP, i get an error 806 relating to blocked GRE traffic.

i have a couple of site-to-site VPNs setup on my pfsense to other pfsense boxes.

i do not have pptp server enabled on my pfsense.

what should i look at please guys?

you could check that you are not loadbalancing your pptp sessions over multiwan

I know it's not the answer you're looking for, but PPTP should be immediately dropped in favor of a VPN that is actually secure.

lol, 100% agreed.  I dont use them ever out of choice, but the people that run the Vigor wont setup IPsec road warrior for us :(

Perhaps they haven't heard of the issues linked above - if they care at all about security, they wouldn't still be using PPTP.

That said, if your rules don't pass GRE, or if you have GRE forwarded in on WAN with a port forward or 1:1 NAT to some other box, it wouldn't work for outbound connections.
