Pfsense dying during bootup…
-
i have snapshot from march 6 installed on my pc. i was able to boot up from livecd and do some settings, save it on a floppy. then i decided to reboot the box… it stoped at the message saying
Fast IPSec: Initialized Security Association Processing
and after that nothing.
i even tried to reboot without floppy and it does the same thing.
has anybody seen this before? -
Disable any unneeded devices in the bios. Also make sure your system is not set to "PnP OS=yes". Besides that check out suggestions from http://wiki.pfsense.com/wikka.php?wakka=BootOptions and http://wiki.pfsense.com/wikka.php?wakka=BootTroubleShooting .

can i access gui on the pfsense box by going https://[public_ip]?

What has that to do with the initial problem? Please don't crosspost and also search before asking a question. This has been covered multiple times already and there is even a faq about it:

oops.. sorry! i just didn't wanna create another thread for this…
well, now i see it in the faq! sorry again! ::)
looks like my initial problem was fixed by just upgrading the bios, but could you tell me what the connection between bios and bootup process been stuck at ipsec initialization? i even removed the floppy with the config file and it still was trying to bring up the ipsec. -
Don't know. Hard to say what a faulty bios can do here but as it seems to be fixed I wouldn't care anymore about it.
