What do I need for Asterisk?

Hello and Happy Holidays to all.
I would like to use VOIP with my pfsense box, but I am a bit confused on what I need to get it to work, I have not got into it too much yet, except installing the package. Is it possible to install astrix assign a voip number like for example, a google number and then plug any phone into the box and have it work? Or do I need some hardware to go along with this? Thank you in advance for your help.

Just configure your accounts by hand. the gui will show asterisk status.
I'm not sure current version has google integration.

It all depends on where you are and if you need a DID
