My home network has exceeded the complexity that my better half can troubleshoot, so I've added a cheap USB 3G modem as backup connectivity. Works great, and setup was painless.

The Cellular tab appears in RRD Graphs, but with no data. I can't find the list of supported modems to know if this is a bug or an enhancement request, but I'd like to help either way. What information do we need to get support added?

One tip for anyone doing this: Gateway monitoring at default settings is more data than you might think. I changed the ping interval to 10s to avoid burning through the 200MB/month prepaid plan.

Just to clarify, what form of support are you looking for? You haven't said you actually have a working connection to the mobile network so its not clear if your modem "works" but you can't see any statistical data about the connection or your modem doesn't "work: and you are looking for someone to weave some magic to make it "work".

I was using one of these 3G USB MC760 adapters successfully with pfSense at one point.  The adapter did function successfully as far as internet access went.   I did notice that the signal strength RRD graphs did not work.  However, not having the signal strength was not that big of a deal for me.

I thought "works great, and setup was painless" would be relatively unambiguous. Apparently not.

I have a fully functional internet connection over the MC760. I'm using it in a failover group, and everything works as expected. (well, see my other post about OpenVPN)

I would like the graphs to work, and I'm willing to help. I'm a sysadmin, so I'm both interested in monitoring and not completely clueless, but the last time I dealt with PPP and AT commands it was talking to a Courier. :D

So, where should I be looking to add support for graphing the cellular stats, and what information about this modem can I contribute to the cause?
