Is there a right way to route a exchange server behind a dual wan?
-
I seem to have issues with dual wan networks when there is an exchange server involved. What is the right way to do it?
My current situation is 1 wan (dynamic) and 1 wan (static) into 1 lan. I have a firewall rule set on the lan tab saying any traffic from lan subnet using port 25 should go out the static wan. We seem to have issues with email taking forever to go out though. Also our pop is retrieved by pop3 via external server so I have a rule in the lan tab that says any traffic from lan subnet using port 110 should go out the dynamic wan. I use a program called popcon and it is filling the event logs with errors of not being able to connect at random, but it is connecting and retrieving emails.
Wish I could understand why we are having these issues better..

Few questions
- What is your rule ordering?
- Did you also define source port?`

Did not define a source port as source ports I think are randomized. The port 25 and 110 rules are first/top of the list.

Did you define gateway in those rules?
