File share on the pfsense box
-
Does anyone know if it's possible to host a file share on the pfsense box? Thanks.

It is not recommended but you can manually compile samba on it.
-
Really? I didn't think stock pfsense came with a compiler and the rest of the build environment.

it doesn't

Indeed
It is not recommended but you can manually compile samba for it.
Would be more accurate.

I think one is able to get those binaries (gcc, make, etc) from FreeBSD distro.

Couldn't you just grab the freebsd packages for samba - I don't think you would have to compile anything?
Now i run 2.1 of pfsense which is 8.3 so I would think I could just do a pkg_add -r```
