Help with Port Forwarding
-
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone on here can shed some light on my issues.
I have PFsense 2.0 running on Alix board and would like to port forward HTTP request to a content filtering server.
My PFsense 2 Lan and Content filtering server are on the same subnet.
I have configured a simple nat rule:
Interface: LAN
Protocol: TCP
Source: Any
Source Port: Any
Destination: Any
Destination Port: 80
Redirect Target IP: 192.168.1.2 (Content Filter server)
Redirect Target Port: 8000But, I am having problem getting this to work.
I set the gateway on the workstation to that of PFsense LAN.
I would appreciate any assistance.

Well I solved the issue.
For anyone experiencing the same problem, make sure you create a NAT outbound rule ;)

Pro Tip: If you create a NAT entry first a firewall entry will be created automatically for you by default.
The pfsense GUI has a small learning curve. Most firewall distros don't have a separate NAT entry GUI than the firewall GUI. -

The pfsense GUI has a small learning curve. Most firewall distros don't have a separate NAT entry GUI than the firewall GUI.This only works for port forward NAT rules. With 1:1 NAT you still have to create the rules.
