      Hi

I have installed pfSense on a PC x86 2 x NICsĀ  LAN is 192.168.200.1 this will be my default gateway for my Windows domain. The DC Windows 2003 std is a DHCP server scope 192.168.200.30 - 192.168.200.254 exclusion for servers, printers etc DC is 192.168.200.10 also a DNS server for AD and a WINs server. We have a static IP address from our ISP. Internet is provided by a TP Link 300M Wireless N ADSL2+ Router Model TD-W8960N. I can configure pfSense to route IP traffic by assigning the WAN an address such as 192.168.200.2 and the TP Link connecting via PPPoA. However I am not happy with the TP Link being on the same network. A tracert to domain.name shows that traffic is going the right way.

How could I configure pfSense and the TP Link to use a separate network, ie TP Link connects via PPPoE assign a port on the TP Link and create a VLan on the firewall? I hope to hang a mail server on the LAN and setup VPN access using Radius on the Firewal and also use the TP Link as a WiFi AP

Thank you in advance your thoughts

      Reg

well, you have 2 nics, setup one as a WAN and the second as a LAN. The wan address can get 192.168.200.0/24 network from the tplink. then you setup LAN with something like 172.16.1.1/24 with dhcp running. no real need for VLAN. Pfsense might be able to handle the modem.
