I've managed to get pfSense running on a Firebox x550e and it is working great so far.  :D

The only thing I am having problems with is the LCD. I have added the lcdproc-dev package and chosen the Firebox driver. The LCD seems to work for a few seconds when it first boots but then it just shows "Thanks for using pfSense".

Here are the settings I am using:

I've tried different refresh frequencies but the same thing happens.

      Any suggestions?

Hmm. I tried following that post and I get this error:

          sock_connect: connect failed
Error connecting to LCD server 127.0.0.1 on port 13666.
Check to see that the server is running and operating normally.

LCD isn't working either; it just gets to "Booting OS …" and stops there.
Not sure what I am doing wrong here. Is this newer than the pfSense package I was trying before?

No that post is the older method. The lcdproc-dev package was to have completely replaced it but currently there are some timing issues as you have found.

If you are using the lcdproc-dev package you should be able to get the screen working by going to Status: Services: and manually restarting the lcdproc service.

Ah okay, thanks Stephen. Are there any settings in particular I should use for the lcdproc package? Or certain screens that don't work?

Edit: This post here: http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,46347.msg245560.html#msg245560 seems to answer my question.

Your settings look ok, the Firebox LCD driver doesn't actually use most of those options anyway.
Although the latest driver does actually have some led support it's not integrated into the package so there's no point having the led box checked.
