-
hello community,
I managed to change my default lan ip to a 172 ip adress
but i fail at setting my wan to static i dont get internet when its static i get internet when its on dhcp
i would like to know to to set my WAN static and get internet -
When you use a static IP for WAN you must also set a gateway address and DNS server addresses. These are otherwise sent via dhcp.

If you are getting internet when on DHCP you should leave it that way. Otherwise you or others can run into troubles if someone else gets your static IP address.

would i change those in general setup under dns server then use gateway and what about allow dns server to be overridden by dhcp on wan would i turn this off?
when i try adding a gateway under wan static - it loads all the time should i use the console? -
Yes, DNS servers are added under general setup. Try using whatever dns servers your ISP was handing to you under DHCP since you know that works. Otherwise Google's DNS servers, 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, are reliable and reachable from almost anywhere. It doesn't matter if you allow DHCP override because you're no longer using DHCP.
What gateway are you adding? Use whatever gateway your ISP gave you under DHCP.Any reason you are switching to static IP?
