LAN IP address is screwing up after I reinstalling pfsense
-
Hi,
I got a problem here after I reinstalling pfsense (not immediately, but a couple of days since).
so this is what happened in my LAN:
when I use the pfsense IP address as my gateway, whenever I ping to other pc using hostname, it reply with this IP address:118.98.96.151, no matter to any different host names, it allways return the same IP.
but I can still reach other PCs using their real IP address (I'm using 192.168.0.0/16).
this is only happened when I use pfsense gateway. when I use another gateway, it return to normal (the ping result shows their real IP address).
So what is wrong with my configuration?
I only configure LAN and WAN configuration, NAT rule for redirecting public IP to private IP, and no DHCP and any package activated.anyone can help me? ???

The IP address 118.98.96.151 is apparently assigned to a system in Indonesia.
What is the IP address of the DNS server used by the PC on which you issue the ping?Does pfSense have the DNS forwarder enabled? If so, what IP addresses are specified as the DNS server (see the entry on the pfSense home page)?

the dns server is using google (8.8.8.8).
and no I don't use DNS forwarder.
I only set the minimum + NAT in the gateway, nothing else.
and I got another gateway (not pfsense), using it as the pc gateway will fix the problem, even though using the same dns. -
ok found the problem, in the advanced option, dns rebinding check.
I uncheck it then it works like charm…
but a bit confuse though with the description, since it says the opposite of the effect (I have windows AD).
