I've used GoogleDNS and it is working fine, used ISP DNS and works fine as well.

However, OpenDNS on pfSense breaks Windows Remote Desktop on local LAN

    My setup is simple:

    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220

w/ Unchecked - Allow DNS server list to be overridden by DHCP/PPP on WAN.

And then I cannot access servers thru Remote Desktop.

I do not have an OpenDNS account, just simply wish to use their DNS services.  Whereas others will return a NXDOMAIN, OpenDNS will redirect me to their "guide.opendns.com".

I guess this is just one of those DNS vs NetBIOS issue, where DNS takes precedence.

Is their a good way for me to resolve this issue?  Anyone else using OpenDNS and also have this issue?

You can turn on NXDOMAIN responses in OpenDNS. Or fix your DNS so it'll resolve local hostnames correctly, which is the better solution given that's what current Windows versions expect.
