Replace router for pfsense.
-
'll need 3 network interfaces?
WAN - modem (DHCP)
LAN - static ip - dhcp server
OPT1 - modem (DHCP)Am I correct?
How to configure for this to work? I have to use NAT?I am currently with a router/firewall (SonicWALL), I'll exchange it for pfSense.

This is a pretty common setup with pfsense and there is quite a bit of documentation out there. If you're using hardware which supports VLANs, you could setup 2 physical interfaces- one for your modems and the other for your LAN. Checkout the link to the docs below.

modems are cable-modem
pfSense will be virtualized in vmware or virtualbox.
as I set in virtualbox?
NIC1 - bridged mode - em0 - IP cable modem
NIC2 - bridged mode - em1 - IP Static
NIC3 - bridged mode - OPT1 -virtualbox is running on windows xp.
pfsense (em0) can not get the IP of the cable modem.

as would be ideal?
I have to use vswitch?
NAT interface is an alternative?
NIC1 - NAT mode - em0 -
NIC2 - bridged mode - em1 - IP Static
NIC3 - NAT mode - OPT1 -or
NIC1 - NAT mode - em0 -
NIC2 - bridged mode - em1 - IP Static
