      Hi Guys,

Hoping someone can help me with this issue.  Brand new install plain vanilla havent even gotten to part of installing packages and already started experiencing random reboots.  Please help.

This is my second build as the first one I succesfully deployed to replace our Sonicwall TZ210 and everything is good to go.

Here is the crash dump log I grabbed after logging back on the box:

Crash report begins.  Anonymous machine information:

What version is that 2.0.1? If so, try 2.0.3. Some detail on hardware and what is happening when it dumps would be useful.

          Hi dotdash-

thanks for replying but can you give me steps in order to grab the details you are referring to?  Not up to par with using PF yet sorry…

and yes it's the 2.0.1 version....

          thanks!

Hardware- specs of the computer you are running it on, what kind of nics are showing up (fxp, rl, etc).
Is the box in production? If you watch the dashboard, do you see high cpu, memory usage, or heavy traffic?
My first thought would be to use another computer to eliminate the faulty hardware possibility.

Normal usage is what I see on all dashboard stuff.

I am using a decommissioned RSA SecureID appliance which originally came preloaded with an Embedded Windows 2003 Server so I was hoping can work since it is a P4 Celeron, 2GB memory, 160GB Sata, Front LCD and has 4 built-in NICs which of two are Gigabit.

The hardware specs from cracking the box open looks fairly generic and stamped as Celestix Scorpio II with an Award bios.

Pic of the Appliance link:  http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://i.ebayimg.com/t/CELESTIX-SCORPIO-II-RSA-SecurID-Appliance-Security-Firewall-/00/s/MjI2WDcwMA%3D%3D/%24(KGrHqN,!q8E-ZRUSb3lBPnrcW)oQ!~~60_35.JPG&imgrefurl=http://www.ebay.com/itm/CELESTIX-SCORPIO-II-RSA-SecurID-Appliance-Security-Firewall-/260996827589&h=96&w=300&sz=7&tbnid=DQvZ87WrUWgxOM:&tbnh=38&tbnw=120&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dcelestix%2Bscorpio%2Bii%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=celestix+scorpio+ii&usg=__jBOwXUe2uyF84R6sx0bqY6Yt6dM=&docid=cCYjdua7Nn-ClM&hl=en&sa=X&ei=EYCNUfyUEamcjAK2-IDIBg&sqi=2&ved=0CFMQ9QEwBw&dur=219

              and the four (4) nics are:  em0, em1, fxp0, and fxp1

There may be some proprietary hardware in there. The NICs are Intel, which is good. If there is a crypto card in a slot, I would pull that and retest. It may just be that the hardware does not play well with BSD. It happens from time to time.

I looked at a few of the crash dumps submitted from your IP address, and they were all different, seemingly in random places, and there were also some signal 11 errors.

If it has DIMMs you can pull you might try swapping them out to make sure it isn't a RAM problem.

The way it's acting is, in general, indicative of a hardware issue. Aside from RAM, it could equally be a power supply issue, cooling, the MB/BIOS, the HDD, some combination of the above, or a general issue with that hardware and FreeBSD.
