Configuration lost after reboot

Just bought a small form computer with multiple ethernet ports on it (can't remember the brand or model, but I'm sure it has nothing to do with my issue – all operator error) that i want to use as my main router/firewall. I took the cf card out of my old pfSense test box and installed it in my new router/firewall, booted up the router/firewall, reset to factory defaults, and upgraded to 2.0.3. After upgrade and reboot were complete i went about configuring pfSense. I configured the WAN interface, bridged all the ethernet ports and made the Bridged interface my LAN interface. Everything was working up to this point, no reboot yet. Then i started configuring an OpenVPN server, made some firewall rules and tested it with my linux box. I connected to the VPN, but i was having trouble pinging across the tunnel, but that is for another topic, point is everything was still working. I thought a reboot would cure my VPN issue but when the box rebooted, i used the serial port to watch the reboot process, I was brought back to the screen where pfSense wanted me to configure my WAN interface again; all of my configurations were lost. What did i do wrong? Am i suppose to save my configuration before a reboot. For some reason i think i ran into this problem when i was playing with pfSense on my old test machine. I tried to do some searching on the pfSense forum and google regarding this issue but i didn't find an answer to my particular issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

when the box rebooted, i used the serial port to watch the reboot process, I was brought back to the screen where pfSense wanted me to configure my WAN interface again;
This can happen when one of the configured interfaces is not present. I had this happen from time to time when I used a USB ethernet interface. In my case, a quick reboot often fixed the problem. Can you capture the startup output? Perhaps it is reporting a problem with one of your interfaces.

I SUSPECT you haven't lost your configuration but that you are being asked to configure interfaces because one of the interfaces specified in the configuration file is apparently not present in the system.

The output on the serial console flashes by too fast so i couldn't see any obvious error messages. I rebooted the system a couple of times and i was still being prompted to re-configure my WAN and LAN interfaces. So i did. When i logged back to my pfsense box through the web interface, and began enabling all my ethernet ports, i noticed that the bridged interface i created earlier was still there and was still active (is that the right way to state that?), all i had to do was add an interface and i chose the bridge from the drop down menu. My OpenVPN server was still up and running. Has this happened to anybody else. I'm a little hesitant to use this as my main router/firewall if it doesn't boot properly after a system reboot. I will do some more testing to see if i can re-create the problem. I have two other boxes that are the same as the one I'm using now. I will try and re-create the problem on them as well.

This is exactly what happens when one of your interfaces disappears for some reason, as Wallabybob suggested.
What hardware are you running exactly? What sort of interfaces do you have?The other reason it might happen is if pfSense can't read the config file for some reason, bad CF card, disconnected drive etc. Since most of your config is still present this has not happened.
