Watchguard X1000 Disappearing Packages?
-
Running 2.0.3 on a X1000. Default setup works okay but if I install packages they don't stick if the unit is power cycled. Is my next step to replace the CF?
-
Which install type are you running? Does it 'forget' anything else from your configuration? Like do you have to reconfigure the interfaces every time?

The interfaces, rules, virtual IP's etc. are all okay after a power cycle. If I install something from "Available Packages" (for example, Vnstat2) they disappear from the menus. The XML does show the packages as installed.
-
So exactly how are they not installed? No menu? No functionality?
Presumably the packages install successfully initially and are usable?Steve

Right, the packages are missing from the menus.

You haven't said which install type you're running. Since it's a Watchguard box should I assume you're running a NanoBSD image?
Seems odd that your config file is obviously not damaged and is being updated fine but webgui menus are not being written. Have you switched slices at all? (assuming a Nano install). If it were a damaged CF card I would expect errors when booting.
Have you made any custom mods?Steve

Sorry - nanobsd (2g) : pfsense0 / ad0s1
I have not tried another slice. Dmesg shows no errors on boot. No custom mods. One of the packages I installed (and it disappeared form the menus) was Lcdproc. The LCD display does correspond to the menu options so it is installed.

Hmm, well that seems very odd. :-
I can't imagine a situation where the box was unable to save the webgui changes correctly that would result in some errors.
I think at that point with unexplained behaviour I would think about reflashing the card.Anyone else got any ideas?
