I've tried to reimage my alix 2d13 using pfSense-2.1-RC0-2g-i386-nanobsd-20130625-1739.img.gz

When booting up the device I get an error "unable to load kernel"

I've attempted to write the CF card from OSX and Linux wiping the card each time to ensure it's as clean as possible.

I did an upgrade. I noticed that the upgrade file was only about 74MB. Usually is is about 78MB.
When I boot I also get "unable to load kernel". Glad I was onsite at this remote place and had a serial cable with me! Went back to the previous version (which was an old 2.1-BETA1 from March).
WARNING: DO NOT USE THIS LATEST BUILD

        Note:
The LiveCD and memstick images are only about 70MB, when they are usually 86MB
The 2G NanoBSD image is 143MB when it used to be 150MB
Something didn't get included in the build.

I've verified that the issue doesn't exist in the 2.0.3 stable builds.

If anyone has a beta 2g nano (no vga) 2.1 build from march they can share I'd greatly appreciate it.

I'm currently trying a download of the build on the 24th,  it's 150MB,  will report back.

Works just fine here on exact same board with:

phil.davis,  thanks so much for pointing out the size differences.   The build on 6-24 has worked a treat and I'm up and running!

Looking @ redmine, they are having fun with the build system quite heavily. Probably best to skip updates for a couple of days.

I wonder why there is not a 2.1 branch of the pfsense-tools repository?
If the build was off a 2.1 branch, then people could do what they like with the main branch to make it work for FreeBSD10 without having to worry about all the build code having cases that work for 81, 8.3 10.n etc.
Then only essential bugfixes for 2.1 could be added to the 2.1 branch, and the build environment for that would be stable.

There were changes in the builder scripts that created images without kernel.
Please wait for next builder images that will come.

2GB nanoBSD upgrade on Alix 2D13 booted fine and all on this system is working - pf, routing, DNS, DHCP, OpenVPN.
Boots much better now there is a kernel  ;)
