      Hi

I have a few quad port Intel Pro 1000 PT network cards which I plan to use in a new pfSense box. I've never used pfSense before (or Linux for that matter) so I'm just wondering if the cards will be recognised at the psSense installation stage? Will I have to change anything within pfSense? I've been doing some Googleing and I've seen people mention "/boot/….", how would I even get in to this?

      Thanks

      Phil

It should be recognised and just work.
"/boot/"is a directory in the root of the pfSense install. It contains the file loader.conf.local which has options passed to the kernel at boot time.
        See: http://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Tuning_and_Troubleshooting_Network_Cards
