Custome ISO with pre-installed packages
-
Hi,
i am currently working on a router project with pfsense.
i had success to build the regular pfsense ISO (FreeBSD 8.3 + RELENG_2_1). But i face the problem when i try to build a custome ISO with pre-installed package (Snort).
These sample snort config files had been added under /usr/local/etc/snort-
classification.config-sample
-
gen-msg.map-sample
-
reference.config-sample
-
snort.conf-sample
-
threshold.conf-sample
-
unicode.map-sample
After that i do "setenv PKG_INSTALL_PORTSPFS /usr/ports/security/snort" to add the package and run the build_iso.sh.
The iso successfully build, but after installing the image, i cannot find snort under the services tab.The following is the link of my iso and logfile:
iso: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/26206959/pfSense-LiveCD-2.1-DEVELOPMENT-amd64-20130731-1108.iso
logfile: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/26206959/pfsense-snort-iso.txtIs that the expected output? Because i need the snort service available after complete the first wizard. Please help… thanks

Building the binaries does not build in the package XML/GUI components. There is not currently a way to pre-install those in an automated manner. It's something we intend to address as time allows.

Hmmmmm. I've wondered in the past if it would be possible to be able to distribute packages via a CD or other file so that you could load them (easily) and use them without having access to pfsense site or its mirrors. Just some guy handing you a couple of disks.
(perhaps unrelated to this post)

Dear Jim, When you solve this problem? in 2.1 stable version?

No. I wouldn't expect a fix until closer to 2.2, if then.
