Do you know which realtek nics are on that board?  I can't seem to find out anywhere.  Thanks, W.

            @Psychoholic:

I picked one of these up last week myself.

Unless I'm doing something wrong, 2.0.2 does not recognize the NICs, however 2.1BETA seems to be working fine, though I have not yet put it into production - if you can call a home network "production" :)

With beta, I initially had an issue where neither interface would function (despite ifconfig reporting up for both) until I ran ifconfig down/up for each interface.  After clearing the CMOS all was well.

            Hello,

Did u manage to have the on board NICs working with pfSense? are u using additional NIC on PCI slot?
which version of pfSense ? video output it's ok ?

            Regards,
            Adrian

I'm also using this MB and can confirm it isn't recognizing the NIC's with pfsense 2.0.3 but with 2.1 beta it works fine.

Not a large sample of Newegg reviews, but score is higher than normally seen.

                • Price $70 … 10/10

                • CPU Passmarks 1,028 … 7/10

                • CPU Soldered to the motherboard … 5/10

                • Dual Nics … 10/10

                • Realtek Nics … 8/10

                • PCI Slot … 6/10

                • Pfsense 2.1 only … 8/10

I would consider this board … I do though however prefer to have a bit extra CPU computing power so not to limit possible future uses or scenarios.

I ordered a msi c847ms-e33 with the same chip, but other expantion port setup. (PCI-E 2.0x16, x1 and 2 PCI)
This will fit my 2 old intel pro1000 pci cards, and a dual pci-e intel nic card. It is no mini, but micro atx i think.

It is about the same cost..

just went through a fit trying to get the  GA-C1007UN-D Intel NM70 to work (1.5 Celeron to the 1.1 in the one your looking at)  could not get both onboard NICs to work at the same time, 2.0.3 did not see the NICs, 2.1 RC did, but either the lan or the wan would have issues each time i think it was the NM70 chipset, another issue i had with the board about 1/3 the time it would not come back up on reboot. had to fail back to my junk tower E5400 (was free and the mobo for it has issues) to keep running pf sense

a bit of what i went through http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,63178.0.html

FWIW, I have a system up and running with this board, 8GB RAM, and using 2.1-RC0.

So far, it's been pretty stable, but not a ton of up-time yet.

interesting board,  wonder why they chose to leave out the ide header since theres a solder point there.  oh well.. id be interested to see its performance.

There is a version of this board with an IDE port and the GA-C1007UN is a better option.

I stand corrected.  I am using the GA-C1007UN-D board in my setup.

nice mobo but yeah I feel depending on your needs if its just basic the cpus fine,  anything more taxing say using openvpn clients then you may need much faster.

Very old thread, but i have it now finally connected :) (msi version with celeron 847)

It does my 500/500 line at 35% cpu when dowloading from usenet.
Have pfblocker and nat running. Trying to get snort working.

No idea if it still works when i add snort and other services, bought when the line was 100/100 but it seems to do fine.
Snort active and CPU on 76% with line rate download..
