      Hi,

Lately I haven't seen any change log/release info published with Snort releases. And the Snort package info is pointing to the Snort FAQ, where the newest update has been made in March 2011. Also the Snort package still has some bugs, which have been in it for ages now.

Is the Snort package still being actively developed? And by whom? Is there an up-to-date roadmap for the package? Is there going to be any big releases like inline mode "soon"?

Please keep an up-to-date thread/wiki regarding these things.

        The status is this:

        • There was big work done to bring most of the functionality to a stable/workable point
        • There are still more things to make usable/workable
        • There is not really much planned on upgrading it

This is mostly to the nature of snort package, many want to use it but no-one wants to help on it.

After I finish dansguardian package, I'll take a look on snort to see how can I help.

Thanks Marcello, the biggeset leak of the "2.9.1 pkg v. 2.0.2" package is I think the block function, that do not block all the IPs at the moment…

            Thanks,
            Michele

Please do not make this thread a complaint variation.

For any issue you might have please report in other thread usually there is an explanation for anything.

What help is needed? What is the situation?  Developers with no funds?  Funds with no developers?

Donating to pfsense project forwarding it to snort devel will be a great start.  :)

How much money does snort development need to fix all the known bugs?

I think this is a question that should be submitted at portal.pfsense.org or coreteam@pfsense.org

I can say from the work i did, i lost almost one full week with it and it is still with issues.
So another full week probably would be needed.
