Control Bandwidth Different Subnet
-
Is there a way to control bandwidth with another router plugged in on the LAN side of pfsense with a different subnet?
So pfsense would be 192.168.45.1
And another router plugged in under its LAN would be 10.171.10.1
Would it be possible to control those IPs for bandwidth?

If the traffic you want to limit actually runs through pfSense, then yes you can limit it.
If the traffic stays internal (e.g. LAN of pfsense to the LAN of the other router) then no.

So if the traffic is internet and my router is before it it will work?
-
Yes, so long as the traffic flows completely through pfSense, you can limit it, no matter what the IPs are.

Awesome! Im just having trouble doing static routes right now, I setup my static route on my 3 routers but i cant get internet on the third when i set it to a router not a gateway

Got it working! Sweet! Just what i needed!

Note that this only works for routed or NATed Internet traffic. If you're making a PPPoE connection from the internal router past pfSense in transparent firewall mode then it won't work
