      Hi,

      i'am new to pfsense and also to VLANs so when i'am reading all the stuff about it it makes me almost cry :'(

      i've jut got HP T5720 terminal that comes with only one NIC and i wanted to make a firewall on it, i've read that this is possible with VLAN setup but really i don't get it :(

      i would like to make it to work like this:

      WAN –--> T5720 ----> WRT160NL ----> Switch ----> comps

      only thing that i know is that when T5720 comes with only one NIC it needs to be connected to WRT160NL, so lets say i would like to connect it to port 4 on Linksys..

      WAN ----> WRT160NL --port 4---> T5720

                            V
                        Switch

      so anyone can help me with setup VLAN on pfsense? i'll try to setup DDWRT WRT160NL when i see the setup on pfSense HP T5720

        vlan's require a managed switch with support for vlan's …..

        it can not be done with cheap switches

            Yes, but the switch has to be vlan-aware to know which port to forward traffic. Unless the whole switch should be apart of the same vlan I guess.
