Snapshots offline for a bit

Release?
But what about the enless calls for added features and packages?
I was hoping to get the jedi light sabre add on package integrated so I can use pfsense for home defence! :(

And there was much rejoicing (yay)

Someone ate Sir Robin's minstrels? ;D

Am I the only one more excited about the new book? Lol
Hoping this means the book release is imminent! -

Hoping this means the book release is imminent!+1 - then we can easily say to people on the forum "did you read the book first?", as it will have example cases that match the current GUI. Good for book sales, and easier on forum support.

The book is nearly done, needs some polish and editing, some updated hardware performance numbers, and to get published of course. The bulk of it is done, it shouldn't be too long away, a couple months at most I'd guess.
Of course commercial support subscribers can get a PDF of it now as a part of their subscription, no waiting needed. :-)

Alright… I'll bite, since no one else really has (well, I take that back, I guess pfSenseRocks did, but got no response).
When can we expect the release bits to be pushed out / sync'd to mirrors so we can start to download the official 2.1-RELEASE build?
People have asked this question for months with varying answers / estimates, but with the developments in the last 24-48 hours, I've got to assume jimp / cmb / etc. can probably give us a pretty accurate estimate by now, right...?
Anyone care to indulge?
PS: Since I seem to recall (without checking, just from memory) that 2.0-RELEASE came out around this time last year, should we expect new "dot" releases every year in September now? Or is this just total coincidence?
-
Sounds alot like they are rolling the releases as we speak doesn't it? Days?
(I doubt they would take the snapshots offline if it were going to be a long time. I don't know, but I'm guessing)Daddy…. Are we there yet?

Not too much longer now. It would have been out already but we found a handful of items to fix during our testing yesterday and we're doing a new round of testing today, so far so good. If no show-stoppers turn up, it'll be out within the next 24 hours, give or take. We'll have to sync up the mirrors first, make sure all of the release notes are up-to-date, and a list of other things that happen after we confirm the release images are good.

Wow!
…know that feeling you get in your gut when your wife calls you and says, "my water broke...."
This is it!!

This is great news! When will we be able to update to 2.1-Release?
Thanks!

Awesome, looking forward to upgrading!

Nice one and congrats !
Will the version 2.2-XX be based on the current master of git (the one with tons of pull request that haven't been put on the 2.1 branch) ?

Don't worry, there's an even BETTER package in the works: the TF2 Sentry Gun brains are being ported from Raspbian to pfSense! What, don't you believe me?
And MAJOR CONGRATS to Chris and his team!! WOOHOO! But, um, BTW…you DID find the FreeBSD NSA backdoor and removed it, right?
-
NSA has a back door in my FreeBSD? That would suck… :-
They already have the key to my front door :-X :-X :-XWhich has me thinking... The robotic sentry control package would be nice :P
Maybe you can put in the good word and get it rolled in or added as a package option before the release is released?
You have 1 hour... GO! -

Yes, the current master/HEAD branch is what will eventually become 2.2 on a FreeBSD 10.x base.
-
That are loooong 24 hours :)

Perhaps the pfSense developers found one of the NSA backdoors and are doing a last-minute patch :o
