Package Manager
-
Got an issue when going from 2.0 to 2.1. I get an error in package manger. what is the new repo that needs to be used? i tried this setenv PACKAGESITE ftp://ftp-archive.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/i386/8.3-RELEASE/packages/Latest/. any ideas?

I'm not sure where you filled in that in, but that FTP site should NOT be used in the GUI.
That is for adding packages from the command line only, and even then you wouldn't use that specific URL (8.3 isn't in the FreeBSD archive yet, it's an active release)
-
I added it in the package manger settings.php. What is the url i should be using for command line packages? the 8.1 release?

The pkg manager settings should not be touched by anyone really, aside from package developers. It is meant to point to a pfSense XMLRPC package repository, not a FreeBSD site.
Go back to that page, erase any settings you have put in there, and save it again. You don't need nor want to change that.
If you want to add FreeBSD packages from the command line, just use "pkg_add -r" you don't need to set any special URLs on pfSense 2.1.
-
Ok will do, So when using the the pkg_add -r command which repo is it pulling packages from?
-
pkg_add -r will pull FreeBSD binary packages -if you need those- most people don't need nor want them, because they only need what we have in our package repository.
If you want pfSense packages, just use System > Packages to install them.

the only reason i am using that is so that i can install the airprint along with cups for air printing. From what i see i dont see anything to deal with airprint the package manager?

Then you may need pkg_add, but you would not touch or change anything in the GUI to add those.
