You will probably see ~60Mbps openvpn throughput, less if you're doing other stuff with it.
Atheros wifi cards are best supported but even then older cards are more likely to work. There is no support for 802.11n so you won't see more than 54Mbps. Many people would recommend an external access point.

but i guess if i get a minix or other with a faster cpu, i will get even faster troughput whn using openvpn?
its too bad that pfsense cant handle pptp Connection, the Connection speed would be better than with openvpn.where can i buy this minix as cheap as possible?

Yes the throughput is limited by the CPU encrypt/decrypt speed.
pfSense can do PPTP but you shouldn't use it due to it's weak encryption:

thanks again for the Quick answer, i know that pptp is possible in pfsense but i dont Think that its possible to use a vpn service like strong vpn, pure vpn or anyting else that provides pptp encryption, but correct me if im wrong, and please tell me how to set it up to get it to work, i have Always used tomato firmware and the pptp setup in that tomato router is very easy, just username, password, and the pptp gateway is all that i need to get it to work, not that simple in pf sense if its possible at all.

This looks to be the same box as this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856205007. There's a thread on this board where someone set one up with good luck… Once you include shipping cost, it might be cheaper from newegg.

no i have ordered one, is it possible to install pfsense on a usb stick or anything else? i dont have a 2.5 harddrive yet.
what is the minimum of disk space that is needed to get pfsense running? -
If you are running one of the nano images, and you should do if you're running from flash, then the smallest image is 512MB.

can i install trought usb? if so, how do i do it?Install the SSD drive in the MINIX box. From another machine, download an appropriate 2.1 memstick image (either 32 or 64 bit). Create a USB boot stick using the memstick image (dd the image to the device). Boot the MINIX box using the USB stick and it will walk you through the install. Pretty easy…
BTW, the other thing you will want to do is turn on TRIM for the SSD (not on by default). You can search the forums to get instructions on doing it...

hi again,
i have now installed pfsense using a usbstick, it Went extremly good,no problems at all, i have also installed strongvpn and it runs pretty good, im a bit unpleased with the speed i get, of a 100mb/s down i get only 20 mb/s down, could there be any other settings that can make the speed go up ehn i use openvpn?
i was thinking if if i really use both of the cores in the cpu or only one?
the cpu speed is supposed to be very important when it comes to openvpn speed, or is it possible to overclock the cpu?

So you're using an Atom D2500? What encryption level/type are you using? What is the CPU usage showing? Try running 'top -SH' at the console while downloading via the VPN.

is it possible to get this minix router/computer to automaticly start itself after a Power failure?
as for now we have some Power issues and the Power goes down sometimes, the problem is that the router wont start when the Power returns, i need to start the router by pushing the start button at the front,and that sucks:( -
If it is possible, it's a setting in the BIOS. There should be a setting under "Power" called "After Power Failure" which you can set to "Stay off", "Last State" or "Power on".

The BIOS has a setting for "always on" on power failure which is useful in my case because the firewall will be installed quite remote.

i found the settings in the boot menu, i have set the Power to "Power on" and i have tested it, i pulled the plug and plugged it in again, but it doesnt start, i have to push the start button to start it, what is the problem?

Do you have the most recent BIOS? I seem to remember a bug of this type in type Intel bioses.

i really dont know which version of BIOS i have, i have searched after bios firmware for this computer on the net but i almost cant find any info about this computer, in the Power setting in BIOS i also checked the Wake on lan option, but how do i Wake the router/computer through lan/wan? i have never used Wake on lan Before.
i guess that if its impossible to get the router to automaticly when the Power fails, it would be nice to be able to Wake the router from distance, but how do i do it?
