    Hey everybody!

I have installed pfSense 2.0.1 on a 80GB WD800BEVE. When i connect it with my Alix 2D13 (IDE Interface) pfsense boots and after a while putty shows me the following output which is shown in a loop:

Did you choose the embedded kernel option when installing? IIRC that disables DMA, which is required for the ALIX to function.

My guess would be that the disk has developed a bad spot.

Last time I looked into FreeBSD's handling of bad blocks it seemed to rely entirely on the disk's mechanism of transparently replacing bad blocks. Unlike some operating systems, FreeBSD doesn't seem to place special files on bad blocks. It might help to write zeroes all over the disk to get the disk's bad block replacement mechanism to allocate a replacement block if possible). Sample FreeBSD command:

         dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/ad0

where you would have to replace /dev/ad0 by the real name of the disk.

Thank you for the very fast answers.
I wrote zeros on the whole disk and installed pfsense 2.0.1 again (with embedded kernel option). The same Problem again.

Here you can see everything from start to the failure:

Try to disable DMA for sure:
