(New / Fixed) Widescreen Package Update
-
It's not my code it was from someone else here on the forum. Install the system patches package and add it in there.
-
At least looks a whole LOT less intrusive than the WS "package" - and a snap to revert as well ;) 8)

Frankly.. not sure what is all the hype about this package not being present on 2.1. Is browsing the landing page down that time consuming ????
-
Could someone please post a screen capture of what this patch looks like?
Is it simple to add / revert - using the system patch manager?
Sorry for (perhaps?) stupid questions :)
TIA
-
Yes, very easy to revert… It looks... Uhm. WIDE. :D
-
Thanks!
I will try over the week end. -
Well, the good news is that installing the patches package, then installing this patch was very simple.
The bad news is that I cannot see any difference? Having installed the patch - I have applied - no error messages, all seems to work, but as far as I can see the appearance is identical?
I have tried on both Firefox and IE10, but everything looks the same.
Have tried apply, revert and even removed and reinstalled - nothing seems to change.
Am I missing something or is the difference so subtle that I didn't notice?

You need to wipe browser cache and restart the browser. Otherwise you have the CSS cached.

Is it just me….
Does this "widescreen" patch just widen the two native columns or can you get 3 or more columns? If so, how?TIA,
Rick -
Try to zoom out in your browser… ;)

Try to zoom out in your browser… ;)
That's not the issue.
It actually stretches the column so it's not a native widescreen. -
Depending on the room for the columns ;) If there is no room for 3, then it stretches the 2 that are native to PFsense…
-
odd… there was room for 4 columns under the Fredch patch under 2.0.3
But with this patch on 2.1, no matter how far I zoom I just get 2 wide columns that get progressively wider and shorter as I zoom out.
Running on both Chrome and Firefox on 3 different machines.May just wait for 2.2. Hopefully Chris and Jim will put in a configuration box. How many F'ing columns would you like?___

Yirrr..2.1 sucks that way!

The old widescreen package allowed for at least 3 (or maybe it was 4) columns across the screen. It was really handy to be able to see most, if not all the dashboard windows without needing to scroll down the page, an enhancement I valued. If it can no longer be accomplished, it will not be show stopper, just a bit of extra effort.
Cheers,

Thank you, Missed this package so much. For such a powerful router it could defiantly use more on the screen to fit today's monitors
-
It doesnt work
Have the same issue here in 2.1.3
It removes the option to save settings in the GUI as well. After I revert the patch, then save settings are back…
You need to wipe browser cache and restart the browser. Otherwise you have the CSS cached.

The package does not SAVE in 2.1.4
This is a REAL pity, as this package makes pfSense usable. The normal layout of the 'Dashboard' is just plain stupid. Having to scroll up and down is not an option! To the pfSense Developers. PLEASE STOP BREAKING THE WIDESCREEN ABILITY! If you are not working within a corporate environment where you do not have the time to scroll up and down, you are just waisting peoples time by upgrading. I know widescreen is to be bundled in 2.2, but looking at how long it took to go from VER1 to 2, this will not happen in the very neer future, UNLESS you think 2-3 years waiting is long enough! (enough of my ranting)
Please WIDESCREEN writer, fix the SAVE option in the DASHBOARD…
Point in argument: Wide-vs-Narrow
HOW MUCH INFO ARE YOU PREPARED TO LOOSE!!!???cyber7-out

What I miss the most is when running a lot of VLAN's you have to scroll like hell. The interface statistics is the turned the wrong way around as well. Why do I have to scroll sideways in a small widget to see the info when it could be made a lot easier if turned around.
