      Hi
      I add this line to rc file and rc.initial file :

      /sbin/sysctl kern.consmute=1 >/dev/null

      then i add this to config.xml:

       <tunable>kern.consmute</tunable>
      			<value>1</value>

      and this to /etc/sysctl.conf:

      kern.consmute=1

      but when i reboot system, kern.consmute is 0!
      Why sysctl doesn't work in pfsense?

        Why don't you add this through the gui?
        It handles all the temporary/volatile file handling for you.

            System –> Advanced --> System Tunables

              I added kern.consmute=1 from GUI.  it doesn't work.  :( after  system reboot, consmute is 0;
              i execute this command from shell:

              sysctl kern.consmute

              result is kern.consmute: 0

                Why kern.consmute can not be set in pfsense 2.1-release? i didn't have this problem with 2.0 and 2.1-rc.

                  It does work for me.

                  After a reboot i get:

                  [2.1-RELEASE][root@pfsense.maynet]/root(1): sysctl kern.consmute
                  kern.consmute: 1

                    It doesn't work on virtualbox and vmware. Do you have installed pfsense on a real machine?
