      Hi
I m new Pfsense. Please help me for decided to buy IBM System x3100 M4. I need to know pfsense 2.1-RC1 (i386) can install on IBM System x3100 M4.I read http://www.freebsd.org/releases/8.3R/hardware.html#ETHERNET.

      The em(4) driver supports Gigabit Ethernet adapters based on the Intel 82540, 82541ER, 82541PI, 82542, 82543, 82544, 82545, 82546, 82546EB, 82546GB, 82547, 82571, 82572, 82573, and 82574 controller chips:

      IBM System x3100 M4 Integrated two-port Gigabit Ethernet (Intel 82574L) / 1 port is shared with IMM2.

Anyone help me between  Intel 82574 and Intel 82574L it same part?

As far as I know the 'l' just means it's part that Intel guarantee to supply longer term.
Anyways the 82574L is definitely supported, I have some running myself and they are widely used.

          you're wrong.
the L or IT define thermal specifications
          L for 0 to 85C,
          IT for -40 to 85C.

Ah, thanks for the correction. I think I must have confused that with some Intel mobo specs. Can't remember that either though.  ::)
Anyway it won't effect compatibility with the driver.
