FitPC 1.0: WebGUI show ~50% of RAM used, but 5% of swap too

Hi,

i have a FitPC 1.0 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fit-PC#fit-PC_1.0 ) (CPU Geode LX 800, Memory 256 MB DDR SDRAM), with pfSense 2.0.1 on it.

WebGUI shows me that i use ~50% of RAM but still 5% of SWAP. My connection speed is not stable too, i thought it might been related.

On this machine i run 1 IPsec connection, and an FTP server.

Is this too much?

If not, where to look?

My pfSense 2.0.1 has a 800MHz VIA CPU, 256MB RAM, a little less than 50% RAM used and 0 swap used.

I run minimal packages.

I suspect startup might be quite demanding on memory (and possibly swap) - it could invoke a number of short lived applications.
