Which VPN for Windows 7 native client & IOS
-
Hi all ;)
Actually, I use PPTP VPN. Quite old, unsercure.
I tried to configure IPSEC or L2TP, but with the first I can't have working with Windows 7 client and with the second unable to make it working with IOS.
What should I do ? Any advices, tips to make a configuration work ?
Thanks a lot

Is there a reason you're trying to do this with the built-in clients only?

Yes, this is because I often need to access to my stuff from various PC. And it take 2 minutes to configure the native client on a computer, and a lot more of time and complication to download, install and configure a VPN client…
I only mention Windows 7 because this seem already complicated for the compatibility with a IOS, but if a compatiblity is wider with Windows OSes it's welcome :)
Thanks for your reply, hope there is a solution

iOS can connect to PPTP and IPSec. Windows can connect with PPTP or L2TP (note, this is not L2TP+IPSec). If you're looking for a single type of connection to share between then then you've got to stick with PPTP.

Thumb Drive + OpenVPN Portable
Bonus points if your thumb drive can be locked read-only with a physical switch so some random machine doesn't infect your USB drive with malware. -

Thank you for these informations. So, no luck for me.
It is possible to setup both IPSEC and L2TP ? Or there is any reason to don't do this ?
Jimp, thank you to, it can be an alternative.

L2TP+IPsec does not work from the Windows client due to limitations in both the Windows client and in pfSense.
The Windows client forces main mode, pfSense won't accept wildcard PSKs from random IP addresses for main mode to work the way the Windows client wants.

Thank for your answer.
Just to be clear, the only way to do VPN with Win7 native client is the old-unsecure PPTP ??? Sad new :-\

At the moment, yes, but it looks like that will be better on 2.2
