I'm trying to setup notifications from PFSense…I want to get an email when someone connects to my Guest Wifi network.

My first question is what does in the first email server field.  It asks for the FQDN or IP Address.

All I know my email server is mail.mypersonaldomain.com.  I have no clue what FQDN is, or what the email servers IP address is.  I use BlueHost, if that helps.  Do I need to have something special running within my network.

FQDN means "Fully Qualified Domain Name". So by that it means "mail.mypersonaldomain.com"

That said, the e-mail notifications do not include logins to networks so it may not do what you want.

So you setup email when someone logs into your guest network - how exactly did you manage that?

I was actually just about to come on here with that very question.

When I say I got it working, I got it successfully sending test emails.

I was going to pose the question, now that I have it successfully sending notifications when I hit "test SMTP", where is the logic or command to have it send emails when certain things occur?  I can't seem to find it in rules anywhere…don't really know where to look.

AFIAK there is no way to do that.. You could always script something I guess.. But I don't know of anyway to currently get it to email on say a dhcp lease being given, or a login to the captive portal, etc.

                Might be a nice package.

Yeah, that's what I was after.  I assumed that you could trigger notifications, but it sounds like that isn't the case.

                  Bummer

At the moment that doesn't exist, but we are looking to expand notifications in future versions so that they can triggered by a wider range of events or even periodic checks. The code just doesn't exist for that yet.

It sounds great that it's on the roadmap. Is there a donation of a certain amount I can make to a certain person to speed up that process?

Is there any issue related to this feature? So we can up vote or follow it? Thanks
